Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Van Zant Born January 15, 1948 – Died October 20, 1977

Nicknamed "Wicker" in the band.

Other bandmates said he reminded them of "Mighty Mouse" because of his short stocky build.

He was the Lead singer and Founding member.

It has been said that he was one of the greatest songwriters in rock n roll.

If a band had a physical heart,then thats what Ronnie Van Zant was to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

When the heart stopped beating on October 20, 1977 so did Lynyrd Skynyrd as we knew it.
